We try our best to take care of our bodies, but sometimes things don’t always go the way we want them to — accidents happen. It could be a sports injury, a car accident or a fall at home or work that causes an injury so serious that it requires some form of physical therapy to fully recover.

A friend of mine has recently had first-hand experience with this and knows this feeling all too well. As a professional tennis player, she works very hard. One day during practice, she went a little overboard with her backhand and not only twisted her wrists but also hurt her back and broke her left ankle.

Needless to say, those injuries were very painful and my friend had to get physiotherapy in order to return to top form.

She received her treatment at a clinic in Slough and has made a full recovery without any recurring pain.

Given the fact that injuries in sports are fairly common and based on the treatment my friend received, she had some advice for those who may need physiotherapy in the future.

Here are her top three tips:

Ensure that you receive expert treatment

An injury is a serious thing and if it is not treated properly it can cause other more serious problems especially for athletes who depend on their bodies to be in good shape to make a living.

Therefore being treated by a certified, capable professional with experience is your best option. You can’t afford to have your money makers permanently out of commission!

Get a personalized treatment plan

Many clinics or physiotherapists may offer a range of different services such as Thai and Indian massages, pilates, aromatherapy, hypnotherapy, and cosmetic injections.

This is good, but what you need to keep in mind is that your body is unique and your injury may be different from someone else’s so your plan should not be the same as the next person. The combination of treatments you receive should be tailored to your injury.

Be honest about your treatment progress and seek a holistic approach

The whole purpose of seeking treatment for an injury is so that you can get better; to no longer feel pain and be able to regain the full use of the injured body part. So, if at the end of your treatment you still feel pain, it didn’t work.

Make sure that you are completely healed!

Additionally, when the entire body is in sync, everything works better. So the treatment you receive should help bring balance to your entire body and improve your health.

No one likes to feel pain and when an injury happens we want to feel better as soon as possible. We should seek relief that is safe, effective, and natural.
