The holidays are practically upon us and I don’t know about you but I like to have my house look extra special around this time. I know of many who, as long as they can afford it, would go as far as giving their house a facelift. This is one of the Christmas practices in some neighborhoods.

If you’re one of those folks then I’d suggest getting your roof done. Depending on the style of it, the roof of a house is one of the first highlights that attracts the eyes, even from a great distance. So, if you’re interested in having your home stand out then roofing would be the right choice.

Before making such a move though, here are three of the best choices in materials that will make you stand out from and admired by the neighbors:

  1. Asphalt Shingles — Having your roof designed with this type of material adds beauty to your house. This type of material is not only known for its ability to contribute to the house’s attractiveness but it’s durability. You see, asphalt shingles can withstand winds of up to 130 mph. They’ve also been given a Class-A fire-resistance rating and were made to be resistant to algae growth. So, your asphalt shingle roof, if you choose to go that way, will both stand out as a thing of beauty and last until the next holidays without any show of black streaks!
  2. Metal Sheets — If you’re not into the rough/groovy/layered look then metal sheets are the way to go. This type of material is known for both its seamless appearance and durability. It provides excellent protection against hail and wind and also helps to reduce the amount of thermal energy transfer into and out of your home, which makes it energy efficient. With a metal roof, you can be sure that your home will look beautiful not only for Christmas but for years to come!
  3. Shingles — As you can see from the name, this is quite similar to the asphalt. Like its asphalt counterpart, shingles offer algae resistance, beauty, and durability. If you’re looking for a quick fix to your roof which has seen years of damage and you want to shock your neighbors for years to come then choose this type!

It should be common knowledge by now that roofing is not a DIY project. You can try, but unless you’re a professional you may be faced with parts falling apart on Christmas morning. We won’t want that now, would we? So, naturally, the next step would be to choose a professional roofing contractor. I always recommend not choosing just any run-of-the-mill contractors, so get the best roofing service you can find.

Most roofing companies normally work in other areas of the home, like gutters, windows, and doing insulation, so if you find one doing all then you’ll be in for a wholesome treat for the holidays. Here’s to hoping you do!
